Last updated on May 20, 2016

Facing issues with Icegram?

After the WordPress 4.5 update you might notice that Icegram is not functioning properly on your website. This is mainly due to the new jQuery 1.12.3 that’s included in WordPress 4.5. This new version of jQuery doesn’t allow incorrect syntax to work whereas the previous one did.

How to spot the ERROR?

If Icegram is not working properly it  could be because of this jQuery error.
If you want to check the technical details:

    1. Go to the console ( right click on your webpage >> go to inspect element >> console)
    2. Search (Ctrl f) for the following error:

Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: [href=#]
Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: a[href*=#]:not([href=#])’)

( If you come across this error do the following: )

Steps to resolve this issue

  1. Update to the latest version of all other plugins and theme on your website.
  2. After you make the updates, you will then need to clear your browser’s cache and the cache from caching plugin if you are using one, before you test to make sure the changes take affect.
  3. If the problem is not resolved after update, contact the plugin or theme developer with a support request.

Our Findings – Theme Divi & Avada

So far we have noticed the following javascript error with Divi and Avada themes.

You can update the theme to it’s latest version. If somehow, you couldn’t update the theme; then follow the steps mentioned below to fix it by yourself.

1. Avada Theme

Refer below link
Article 1 : Fix for Avada Theme

2. Divi Theme

Open file: wp-content/themes/Divi/js/custom.js
Search for this line

$( 'a[href*=#]:not([href=#])' ).click( function() {

and enclose # character with double quotes, like this

$( 'a[href*="#"]:not([href="#"])' ).click( function() {

It fixes a JavaScript error that prevented jQuery and Icegram code execution.
