“Time is a great storyteller.”

– Irish proverb

Hi,

My weekend at WordCamp Europe was outstanding. Meeting so many friends after a long time, the vibe, after parties… You get this only in a WordCamp.

There is one thing that bothers me now.

And not, it’s not about WordCamp or WordPress. It’s about all the low-cost airlines in Europe.

For the current trip, we booked with easyJet, RyanAir and Air Europa. Four flights in total.

All the flights so far have had some or the other trouble. The first – Basel to Mallorca – was “disrupted” and we got an alternative flight. Mallorca to Porto was 150 minutes late. Porto to Seville was canceled altogether with no alternatives.

And yes, we even missed our train from Munich to Venice because Frankfurt to Munich was delayed by two hours.

This is not the first time we’re traveling in Europe, but it’s the first time we’ve seen so many disruptions and uncertainty.

Is it just statistics? 20% trips will have disruptions? Have we been unlucky?

I don’t know.

I just hope our Madrid to Frankfurt flight goes well 😉

What’s your experience?

Our story so far…

Every founder, every product, every team, every person has a story.

I’ve been privileged to hear life stories from many product founders and even regular people like drivers.

I’m not sure if you know Icegram’s journey!

Here it is.

Beginning

Icegram started as the first ever all purpose plugin to collect leads, opt-ins and show call to actions on a website in 2014.

Icegram quickly gained popularity. On the way, we acquired the Email Subscribers plugin from someone else.

Post notification era

Email Subscribers has been a top notch solution for email marketing and newsletters from the beginning. But one feature that drove adoption was post notification emails. The way we did it was an industry first and automated sending email notifications to subscribers every time a new post is published.

Combating spam bots

At one time, some users reported receiving spam subscriptions through bots. When most other products relied on third party captcha, we introduced a robust solution by restricting suspicious domains / IPs as well as built-in captcha.

It’s interesting how quickly we forget the past. This spam protection feature was a big improvement and it helped thousands of users. But it’s been a while and now we just take it for granted!

Enhanced email deliverability

Delivering emails to subscribers’ inboxes has always been a challenge for everyone. While there are lots of external factors that affect it, we developed a series of features and services to improve inbox delivery. Checking emails for spam score before dispatch, verifying email addresses and cleaning out bouncy or fake emails, educating people about email delivery…

Drip sequences

Email Subscribers was no longer just a post notifications and email newsletter sending system. We had reached 100,000+ active users milestone and people wanted it to solve even more problems.

Autoresponder sequences were one such feature. Today it allows you to set up complex communication flows with your audiences easily.

Workflow automation triggers

Send email on specific events in WordPress or WooCommerce. Move people from one list to another if they buy. Workflow automations is a powerful set-it-and-forget-it system!

Visual editor

We’re late to the visual editor party. As a matter of fact, I still believe that simpler, personal emails are more effective than fancy newsletters. But people wanted a drag and drop editor, WordPress community was rolling out Gutenberg block editor, so we finally implemented a drag and drop campaign editor for newsletters.

Audience engagement score

Small developments can have big impact. The engagement score feature clearly shows readers who interact more and engage better with your campaigns. You can even create campaigns targeted to members with a high (or low) engagement score!

Automated bounce handling

Email bounces are a real problem. We recently added the ability to process bounced emails and unsubscribe them automatically.

Customer support improvements

We strive to resolve all issues quickly. The result is thousands of 5-star ratings. If you’ve not reviewed Email Subscriber’s yet, leave a review and tell people what you like most about the plugin. We’ve also made a ton of improvements in how we respond and support customers over the years.

What’s coming next?

Newsletter archives, drag & drop form editor and A/B testing for campaigns are some of the top things we’re working on.

Would you like us to build something else? What problem would you like Email Subscriber to solve?

Reply to this email and let us know.
