“A cat in a cage becomes a lion”

– Indian proverb

Hi,

What worries a business owner when they’re on a vacation?

They just wish that business keeps going well while they’re away. That the team is able to take care of any challenges that come up and they can enjoy a vacation without disruptions from work.

What worries you when you are away? Something other than what I described? Do reply and share.

I must admit I’m super lucky.

Lucky to have a team that keeps taking care of products and customers whether I’m around or not. I’ve seen days where something or the other would have gone wrong even if I was away for half a day. So being away for 40 days and things going well is quite a blessing.

Yes, I’m back to work after a wonderful vacation and WordCamp Europe. It’s unbelievable how many ups and downs we’ve had on this trip, but we will cherish these experiences for a lifetime.

And while I was away, the team shipped a useful feature – “newsletter archives” – among other things.

Let me tell you why I’m very excited about this feature…

Preserve memories so they never fade…

Museums, monuments and books are important. They protect history and keep a culture alive. If we don’t archive our creations, new people will be ignorant of the value created before they arrived.

Consider this. We’ve sent 40+ newsletters in the last year. We try to pack great value in each email.

But how many have you read? You may have subscribed recently, or you didn’t receive a few of those newsletters.

How can you read back issues?

Up until now, there was no way.

But now there is.

Newsletter archives.

Email Subscribers now allows you to show a public archive of all broadcast campaigns.

This has great advantages…

Similar to a museum, a book, or a blog archive, a newsletter archive has lots of benefits:

  • SEO: Newsletters have a lot of great content. A public archive means search engines can now index all this content. Get ready to welcome new organic traffic.
  • Build trust and grow your audience: When new and potential subscribers see your email archive, they know they will receive tremendous value – not spam and marketing.
  • Easy references: You can link to the content in the past emails, readers can easily find something – well even the built-in site search can find content from newsletters now.

How to display newsletter archives on your site?

Make sure you’re using the latest version of Email Subscribers plugin. Then create a new page in WordPress, and paste this shortcode on the page:

.

That’s it! When the page is published and you visit it, you will see a list of all past broadcast campaigns. Each campaign will be linked to its actual content as well.

To see a public archive in action, check our newsletter archive page.

And here’s a step-by-step documentation guide for this feature.

We will keep improving this feature, but if you need something specific, do reply and let us know.
