Troubleshooting Cookie Manager issues

Resolve common issues with Icegram Cookie Manager including banner display problems, cache conflicts, and WooCommerce settings.

Find solutions to common questions and technical issues encountered when configuring Icegram Cookie Manager.

If the banner does not show up when visiting your site:

  1. Test in a Clean Window: If you have already accepted or rejected cookies in your current browser, the banner is hidden by design. Open a new incognito or private browsing window to view your site as a first-time visitor.

  2. Clear Site and Server Cache: If you use a caching plugin (such as WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, W3 Total Cache, or SG Optimizer), purge the entire page cache. Old HTML cached prior to plugin activation may not include the banner scripts.

  3. Purge CDN Cache: If your site uses Cloudflare, Fastly, or another CDN, purge the CDN edge cache so the latest page assets serve to visitors.

  4. Check for JavaScript Errors: Right-click your page, select Inspect, and check the Console tab. If another plugin triggers a fatal JavaScript error before the footer loads, it can halt script execution. Resolve any third-party script errors.

Working with caching and optimization plugins

Icegram Cookie Manager loads its front-end assets asynchronously and checks consent via client-side cookies so that cached static HTML pages remain fully compatible.

  • Minification & Deferral: The plugin’s scripts are lightweight and modern. If your optimization plugin combines or defers JavaScript files, exclude the plugin’s script handle if you notice delays in banner rendering.
  • Cache Preload: Always rebuild your page cache after changing banner text, button labels, or color options in Cookie Manager > Cookie Manager.

WooCommerce compatibility

Icegram Cookie Manager is designed to work seamlessly with WooCommerce stores:

  • Core WooCommerce session cookies (including cart tokens, session identifiers, and customer hash tokens) are mapped under the Necessary category.
  • Essential store operations—adding items to a cart, proceeding to checkout, and payment processing—continue without interruption, even if a shopper clicks Reject All.

Multilingual sites and translations

Icegram Cookie Manager is fully localized and translation-ready:

  • Built-in translations are included for German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese.
  • If your site runs in one of these languages under Settings > General > Site Language, the default interface strings display in that language automatically.
  • For custom translations or multilingual setups using WPML, Polylang, or Loco Translate, all strings use standard WordPress translation domains.

Clean uninstallation

If you ever delete Icegram Cookie Manager from your WordPress installation:

  • All configured options (messages, colors, and duration settings) are purged from your WordPress options table.
  • The custom consent log table is dropped cleanly to prevent residual database clutter.
