How to Send Automated Emails When Wishlist Items Go on Sale

Max

Trigger automated email alerts to WooCommerce shoppers when products saved in their YITH wishlist drop in price or go on sale.

Shoppers frequently save desired items to a wishlist when they are waiting for a discount or seasonal sale. The Wishlist Price Drop workflow in Icegram Express detects when an item saved in a customer’s wishlist receives a discounted sale price in WooCommerce and automatically sends a personalized notification encouraging them to purchase.

Setting Up the Wishlist Price Drop Workflow

Follow these steps to build the automated price drop alert:

  1. In your WordPress admin dashboard, navigate to Icegram Express → Workflows → Add New.

  2. Enter a recognizable workflow title, such as Wishlist Item On Sale Alert.

  3. In the Trigger dropdown, select Wishlist item goes on sale under the WooCommerce group.

  4. Under Actions, click Add Action and select Send email.

  5. Configure recipient targeting:

    • In the Send to field, select Customer Email (retrieved automatically from the wishlist owner account).
  6. Craft the email notification using dynamic product merge tags:

    • Subject: Good news, {{FIRSTNAME}}: An item on your wishlist is now on sale
    • Body: Highlight the discounted product details:
      • {{PRODUCT_NAME}}: Name of the on-sale item.
      • {{PRODUCT_IMAGE}}: Featured image thumbnail.
      • {{PRODUCT_REGULAR_PRICE}}: Original retail price.
      • {{PRODUCT_SALE_PRICE}}: Current discounted price.
      • {{PRODUCT_URL}}: Direct link to add the product to their shopping cart.
  7. Toggle the workflow status from Draft to Active in the top right box.

  8. Click Save to activate the automation.

How the Automation Executes

Whenever store administrators update a WooCommerce product’s pricing with a valid sale price, Icegram Express checks active wishlist registries in the background:

  • If matching customers have the item on their active wishlist, an individual email job is staged in the sending queue.
  • Delivery adheres to your configured batch throttling limits in Settings → Email Sending to ensure inbox deliverability.
