“If you’re running in the wrong direction, speed doesn’t matter.”

Frank Sonnenberg

Hi there,

Can you believe we’re already halfway through the year? Feels like just yesterday we were making big lists and vision boards and telling ourselves, “This is going to be the year.”

Now, if you’re nodding, thinking “Oops… haven’t looked at that list in a while,” I hear you. I’m the same.

But, I’ve learned:

  • You don’t need a new year to begin again.
  • You just need a pause.
  • A moment to breathe, look around, and say – okay, where do I go from here?

We’ve still got 6 months. That’s 180+ days of possibility. So let’s gently check in:

  • What’s working?
  • What’s not?
  • What’s one thing you’d still love to make happen?

Think about it.

(And if you’ve never made a vision board and want to try, reply and say “VISION” – I’ll walk you through it in the next email.)

But first, let’s talk about something else that deserves a pause…

“I sent the email… but no one replied.”

Ever been there?

You wrote a great email. Maybe even your best.

You hit send. And then… silence.

You start wondering – did they ignore it?

  • Did it land in spam?
  • Or… did it even reach them at all?

Turns out, it’s not always your fault. Sometimes, your emails just don’t land where they should.

Let’s talk about why that happens and how to stop it from happening again.

Why do emails go to spam?

Some real reasons (that don’t get talked about enough):

    • We use words that sound spammy – like “Buy now!” or “Click here!!!”
    • We send to people who never open – and email providers notice. It’s good to refresh the email list on a regular basis.
    • We forget to warm up new email addresses – yep, even if you’re just sending 10 emails.
    • We skip setup stuff like SPF or DKIM –  scary words, but they matter.

Read this simple breakdown: Why your emails go to spam?

    Quick fix

You don’t need tech skills for this. Just a bit of attention.

    • Keep your subject lines simple and natural.Try: “A little something to make your day better”.Think of how you’d message a friend – clear and honest.
    • Send emails people actually want to read. Ask yourself: Would you open this email? Add a helpful tip, a story, or something relatable — not just announcements.
    • Don’t buy email lists — ever. These people don’t know you. Your emails go straight to spam. Build your own list instead — even if it’s slower, it’s 10x more effective.
    • Send to people who open your emails.
    • Use a good email tool that does the tech work for you.

This month’s eye opener: Barking Up the Wrong Tree by Eric Barker

This book made me question everything I once thought about success. Some cool takeaways:

    • Being nice works – when done smartly.
    • You don’t always need to hustle – sometimes, knowing when to stop helps more
    • Being different can be your biggest strength

🎥 Coming up in Episode 4…

Trends. Everyone talks about them. But why do they really matter?

    I’ll answer that next week.

    Things like:

    • What’s trending in emails right now?
    • How to use those trends (without looking like everyone else)?
    • What to try if your emails feel outdated?

Want a head start? Here’s a sneak peek: Email marketing trends.

Okay – we fixed our emails. Now let’s fix the rest of the year.

No pressure. Just small, doable steps.

    Here’s what to try:

    1. Pick 3 goals you had at the start of the year (Don’t have any? Make your vision board now!)
    2. Write them down – somewhere you’ll see them daily.
    3. Pick ONE. Make a small action plan.
    4. Do it. Only then move to the next one.
    5. And if anything you do helps another goal, that’s a bonus win.

These small shifts… they are everything. 1% everyday is enough sometimes.

Remember: You’re doing great. Even if it doesn’t feel like it every day. Sometimes just showing up is the biggest win.

    Until next time,
